Guest Lecture with Professor William Huxley Morgan
The Ophthalmology Study Program of Udayana
University once again held an international guest lecture, inviting an
honorable guest speaker Prof. William Huxley Morgan from Perth, Australia.
Professor William H. Morgan is a Glaucoma subspecialist (MB BS, FRANZCO) with a
Ph.D. in optical nerve physiology, managing director of the Lions Eye
Institute, and Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Western
Australia. The lecture activity was held online on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from
09.00 AM to 11.00 AM.
The opening of the lecture began with remarks
by Dr. dr. Anak Agung Mas Putrawati Triningrat, Sp.M(K) as the Education
Coordinator of the Ophthalmology Study Program, Udayana University. The lectures
were then guided by dr. I Gusti Ayu Ratna Suryaningrum, M. Biomed., Sp.M as
moderator. The topics presented in the lecture were about the “Childhood
Glaucoma” and “XEN and Other Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS)”.
Following the lecture, all the questions regarding the topics were discussed by
the speaker and participants. The discussion was conducive and showed great
enthusiasm from all participants.
At the end of the session, it was closed with two
case reports regarding childhood glaucoma at Sanglah General Hospital. Through
this discussion, it is hoped that it will increase resident doctors’
understanding of the development of science and patient management in the field
of glaucoma.
