Formation of Expertise Groups in Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University

The Ophthalmology Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, announces that Udayana University has established Faculty Expertise Groups as part of strengthening academic governance, advancing scientific development, and improving the quality of education, research, and community service.

The establishment of these Expertise Groups is based on the Rector’s Decree of Udayana University Number 4506/UN14/HK.KP/2025 concerning the Formation of Faculty Expertise Groups at Udayana University, enacted on October 20, 2025.

This policy aims to group lecturers based on their competencies and fields of expertise, thereby strengthening more focused scientific development, enhancing academic collaboration, and supporting improvements in the quality of education and research within the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.

Specifically, within the Ophthalmology Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, there are two Expertise Groups that serve as the foundation for academic and research development in the field of ophthalmology:

1. Expertise Group in Neuro-Ophthalmology, Strabismus, Lens, and Community Eye Health

This group focuses on the development of knowledge and research related to neuro-ophthalmic disorders, strabismus, lens abnormalities, and community-based eye health.

2. Expertise Group in Oculoplasty, Ocular Oncology, Refraction, and Visual Optimization

This group focuses on the development of knowledge and research in oculoplasty, ocular oncology, refraction, and visual optimization to improve patients’ visual quality.


Commitment to Academic Development

With the establishment of these Expertise Groups, it is expected that education, research, and community service activities within the Ophthalmology Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, will become more structured and develop optimally.

This division of expertise is also expected to strengthen collaboration among academic staff, increase research productivity, and contribute to the advancement of ophthalmology and the improvement of eye health services at both national and international levels.

The Ophthalmology Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, will continue to support the development of lecturers’ competencies as well as innovative, science-based academic activities in order to sustainably realize the three pillars of higher education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi).
