Visiting Professor Lecture and Glaucoma Webinar with Professor William Huxley Morgan and Dr. dr. Virna Dwi Oktariana, Sp.M(K)

In August 2022, Prof. William Huxley Morgan came back to Bali to share his knowledge about glaucoma. This event lasts for two days, from 4^th-5^th August 2022.

Starting from the first day, Thursday, August 4^th 2022, he gave a lecture at Wiksa Locana Meeting Room, Cempaka 4^th Floor, Prof. IGNG Ngoerah General Hospital from 8 A.M to 2 P.M. He explained the topics "How to Judge Glaucoma Progression" and "Normotension Glaucoma" to the supervisor and resident of the Ophthalmology Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University/ Prof. IGNG Ngoerah General Hospital, as well as members of Perdami Bali who took the time to attend.

On the second day, Friday, August 5^th, 2022, Dr. dr. Virna Dwi Oktariana, Sp.M(K) was also present with Prof. William Huxley Morgan, gave lecture at the "Glaucoma Webinar" which was attended by online participants. Prof. William Huxley Morgan explained about "Glaucoma Drainage Device Implant: How Do We Get Here?" which discussed about Glaucoma Drainage Device (GDD) implantation technique comprehensively. Then continued by Dr. dr. Virna Dwi Oktariana, Sp.M(K) who explained about "Pearls and Pitfalls in Glaucoma Drainage Device Implant". In the lecture, she explained steps of GDD implantation along with postoperative follow-up, and also about its complications.

After the "Glaucoma Webinar" event, the activity continued with "Case Surgery Discussion" which was held offline at the Library Room, Bali Mandara Eye Hospital. In this event, a case discussion was performed, and at the same time, live surgery was carried out for GDD implantation on a patient in the operating room by dr. Ni Kompyang Rahayu, Sp.M(K).  The surgery was broadcast live in the Library Room of the Bali Mandara Eye Hospital. Several supervisors, residents, and members of Perdami Bali were present and participated in the discussion of the case surgery. Professor William Huxley Morgan and Dr. dr. Virna Dwi Oktariana, Sp.M(K) answered the case discussion and provided the participants with tips and techniques regarding GDD implantation. This event was expected to increase participant’s understanding of the development of science and patient management in glaucoma, especially about GDD.
