Doctoral Promotion Celebration for Dr. dr. Ari Andayani, Sp.M(K)

January 25, 2022 is a very proud day for the whole academic community of the Ophthalmology Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. This day, one of our beloved teaching staff, dr. Ari Andayani, Sp.M(K) has passed her Doctorate (S3) degree and was awarded the a grade of “Very Satisfactory” in the Doctoral Promotion Open Examination, which took place in the Prof. dr. I Goesti Ngoerah Gde Ngoerah Auditorium.

The Doctoral Promotion Open Exam was led directly by Dr. dr. Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih, M.Kes as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University; Prof. Dr. dr. Sri Maliawan, Sp.BS (K), FICS as the Promoter; Prof. drh. I Nyoman Mantik Astawa, Ph.D as the First Copromotor; Prof. Dr. Ir. Ida Bagus Putra Manuaba, M. Phil as Second Copromotor; and was also tested by seven other examiners/debaters.

As for her dissertation, dr. Ari Andayani, Sp.M(K) presented a dissertation entitled “Pengaruh Pemberian Ekstrak Umbi Ubi Jalar Ungu Dibandingkan dengan Blueberry Terhadap Ekspresi mRNA VEGF Retina, Ekspresi COX-2 Retina dan Kadar Gluthation Darah pada Tikus Model Hiperglikemia”. This research emphasized on the effect of purple sweet potato tuber extract compared to blueberry on retinal VEGF mRNA expression, retina COX-2 expression and blood glutathione levels in hyperglycemic model mice. It is expected to provide clinical benefits to the role of natural products in the management of hyperglycemic condition. Congratulations to Dr. dr. Ari Andayani, Sp.M(K)
